Home Groups

Home Groups are small groups that meet together regularly to build relationships that reflect God's love. At Home Group, you may find yourselves eating together, studying the Bible, discussing the sermon or a book, or praying, but whatever you are doing, the overall goal is to know, love, and serve others.

The Bible tells us that God has put every individual in the church for a reason: "To each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good." (1 Corinthians 12:7). Home Groups help us build relationships so that we can use our gifts to build each other up.

Chinese Language Home Group

  • Focus: Survey of Biblical Teaching

  • When: Sunday, immediately following the service

  • How Often: every week

  • Location: at the church

Brockman Home Group

  • Focus: The Apostles' Creed

  • When: Wednesday at 7PM

  • How Often: twice a month

  • Location: the Brockman home in University Park, MD

  • Childcare Policy: Children are welcome to play on the floor where the adults are or in other rooms

Burke Home Group

  • Focus: Sermon Discussion

  • When: Sunday at 5-7

  • How Often: twice a month

  • Location: the Burke home in Cheverly, MD

  • Childcare Policy: Childcare provided

  • Focus: Relationship Building

    • This group will focus on getting to know and care for one another, with some sermon discussion

  • When: Wednesday at 7PM

  • How Often: twice a month

  • Location: the Carman’s home in Laurel, MD

Home Group Calendar Fall 2026 – Spring 2027

Note: this calendar is a suggested template for Home Groups meeting twice a month. Home Groups are free to meet more often or on a different pattern, so long as they meet at least twice a month. This calendar is to provide you with structure, but we want you to be free to improvise on that.

If Home Groups desire more frequent fellowship, there are also other options beyond simply scheduling more regular meetings. Individuals in the group could go out for coffee to build one-on-one relationships. Or the group could go on fun activities or schedule a special party.

Fall Season (September-December)

  • Week of September 13th – Home Group Meeting #1

  • Week of September 27th – Home Group Meeting #2

  • October 10th – HG training

  • Week of October 11th – Home Group Meeting #3

  • Week of October 25th – Home Group Meeting #4

    • [note: October 25th is Reformation Sunday. Sunday groups should reschedule]

  • Week of November 8th – Home Group Meeting #5

  • Novermber 18/19th – Home Group Leaders’ Appreciation Dinner

  • Week of November 22nd – Home Group Meeting #6

    • [note: November 26th is Thanksgiving. Wed/Thurs groups should reschedule]

  • Week of January 31st – Home Group Meeting #7

  • Week of February 14th – Home Group Meeting #8

  • May 5th/6th – Home Group Leaders’ Appreciation Dinner
