Called by God to care for God’s people, elders are to be under-shepherds of Christ’s church (Acts 20:28), and “…prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up…”.
Joe Alder was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the second of four boys, where he lived until attending the University of Maryland. While in college, he became involved in Reformed University Fellowship, a campus ministry of Wallace and the PCA. Joe has been a youth ministry leader at Wallace and is currently teaching and serving in the Young Adult Fellowship. He became a Deacon in 2000, and an Elder in 2012. Joe works as an electrical engineer in Silver Spring and lives with his brother in University Park.

Rock Brockman grew up in a Christian family living in Tennessee and Florida. God really grabbed hold of his heart while involved with a fellowship of believers at Princeton. Through that fellowship, he met his life partner, Melanie. Rock and Melanie also grew close to Lance and Jacque Hudgens. When Lance received a call to Wallace, the two couples moved to Maryland in 1973. The Brockmans are blessed with four grown daughters and six grandchildren. Rock works in the insurance and investment business. He is serving on the board of the PCA’s Retirement and Benefits, Inc. Rock currently lends a hand with the Homebuilders group. He also is a mediocre golfer, a football and baseball fan, and enjoys reading books.
Andy Cavanaugh grew up near Detroit and attended Michigan State University where, in 1981, he became a Christian through a local church fellowship. After a short-term missions trip to Asia, he was inspired to pursue more training in the teaching of English as a Second Language (ESL). He earned his Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MATESOL) degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1991. He then moved to Maryland where he began dating Meisywe (Michelle), who is originally from Taiwan. They married in 1994. They have three children — Jeremy, Maureen and Jason — and live in Riverdale. Andy taught ESL for 14 years at the University of Maryland, College Park, from 1991-2004. He now works as Director of Academic Writing at the University of Maryland University College in Largo, and is pursuing his D.Ed. in Instructional Technology at Towson University. At Wallace, Andy helps with music for the Sunday morning worship, and also facilitates one of the Home Groups.
John Daly grew up attending Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) in Huntsville, Alabama, and became a communing member in junior high school. He left Alabama to get an undergraduate degree in Engineering and Applied Science at Caltech, and a graduate degree in Aerospace Engineering at Princeton University. John met his wife Catherine in New Jersey where they were married. John and Catherine moved to Dallas, Texas, shortly after they were married and attended Park Cities Presbyterian Church (PCA) and Westminster Theological Seminary until relocating to Los Alamos, New Mexico, and ultimately to Columbia, Maryland. They have four children, and have been coming to Wallace since first arriving in Maryland in 2008. John works as a researcher in computational science and high performance computing where he endeavors to glorify God through mathematical understanding of events that cannot be directly observed. In his spare time, John enjoys vocal performance, photography, playing strategy games, studying theology, writing, teaching and working on math problems.
Paul DiPiazza
Dorry Kenyon grew up outside of New York City and has lived in Switzerland, Germany and Egypt. He became a Christian in high school and after college attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. In 1983 he married Kaylene, an Australian, in Sydney. In 1984 he completed a second Masters degree in Egypt and moved to Washington, becoming a member of Wallace the following year. His two children, Greg and Elizabeth, are students at the University of Maryland, where he earned his Ph.D. in Educational Measurement in 1995. A lover of nature, travel, psychometrics and languages, he is the Director of the Language Testing Division at the Center for Applied Linguistics. At Wallace he serves as an elder, an adult Sunday School teacher, and the coordinator of the adult teaching fellowships.
Bashir Khan was born in Pakistan and raised in a Christian family. He attended Forman Christian College and graduated from The University of Punjab, Pakistan. Bashir also attained his Master’s degree from San Diego State University in California. He served the Pakistan Government as a Subject Specialist, and later also served the Federal Government of Nigeria in the Ministry of Education. In 1980, Bashir settled in Maryland with his wife Riffat and three children, Sonita, Amar and Somita. He also joined Wallace at this time. In 1998, Bashir was ordained as an elder and currently serves on the Missions team as a liaison from the Session. He is also a member of the Mission to the World committee of the Potomac Presbytery. And, in 2009, he was elected by the General Assembly of the PCA to the Mission to the World Team for a five-year term.
Rachi Ngaine was born and raised in Kenya, East Africa. Rachi migrated to the U.S. in 1972 for higher education. Rachi has an MBA in professional accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Rachi came to Christ at age 12 in his native country. He joined Wallace Church in 1985 and has served respectively as a deacon and elder since 1988. Rachi is also a local member of Gideon’s International. After two decades of service as an Accounting Professor, Rachi currently works for the federal government as an auditor. Rachi and Wairimu have been married for 41 years; have four grown children; and four grandchildren. The Ngaines enjoy international fellowships, community services, and worldwide ministries.
Marty Rabenhorst is a Maryland native, was born just a few miles away in Takoma Park and grew up in Silver Spring. Marty became a Christian during his undergraduate college years at the University of Maryland. In 1976 he married Judy and had two children, Annie and Daniel (deceased), and now has five grandchildren. Marty started attending Wallace shortly after coming to Christ and joined the church in 1973. In 1984 he was ordained as an elder, and he currently serves on the College ministry team. Marty lives in Parish 3, and works as a professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Technology at the University of Maryland.
Charles Robinson was born and raised in a Christian home in Florence County, South Carolina. He graduated from college in Richmond, Va., and moved to Washington, D.C., and then to Hyattsville, Md. It was while living in Richmond that he met the young lady, Barbara, whom he would later marry. Charles and Barbara have three grown children, who grew up at Wallace. They also are the proud grandparents of four wonderful grandsons and a grandaughter. Charles works as a project manager in the Global Business Services division at IBM. He was ordained an Elder at Wallace Presbyterian Church in 2001. He is a Sunday School teacher, a liaison for the Children’s ministry, and lives in Parish 2.
Allen John Timothy was born and raised in Khanewal (Punjab) Pakistan in a Christian family. His father was a pastor in a Methodist Church in Khanewal. He did his bachelor degree at Punjab University in Lahore, Pakistan, and earned his Master’s in Education and History from Karachi University. He served as a teacher and headmaster in a government high school and married Doris in 1976 in Karachi. Doris was also a high school teacher. They have four children, Harold, Michael, Hannah and Nida, and two granddaughters, Aliza and Reiah. Allen had a great desire to serve Lord from his college life and the Lord gave him a vision to go among His people to strengthen them in education and scripture. Besides his teaching assignment, Allen served as Sunday school teacher, youth leader, convener to the evangelistic committee and as teacher to train teachers for child evangelism fellowship for Christ Church in Karachi, Pakistan. Allen migrated to the USA with his family in May 1996 and joined Wallace Church in September 1996. Since then, he has been an active member of this church serving as an Elder for the last five years and leading the Pakistani/Indian community in Urdu worship and Bible Study.
