Women’s Ministries at Wallace seek to glorify God in response to His grace and goodness. With our Lord Jesus Christ as the constant focus of our ministry, we seek to serve Him as we serve each other by using our unique and individual gifts and talents to further his kingdom both within our congregation and within the surrounding community. Please contact info@wallacepca.org with questions.
We answer this call through four ministry areas: Spiritual Growth, Connections, Special Events, and Service.
Spiritual Growth
Spiritual growth is the process of the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives to make us more like Jesus Christ. As the body of Christ, we seek to have times of Bible Study and discipleship that expand our hearts for worship and growth.
Bible Studies
- West Side Bible Study uses an inductive approach to Bible Study, which helps you to discover for yourself what the Bible says.
- The Women’s Thursday evening Bible Study will take a break during the winter months. Please watch for details about a spring session beginning in March.
- Community Bible Study (CBS) meets at our daughter church, Church of the Atonement, on Wednesday mornings at 9:30 am. Many Wallace ladies of varied ages attend and are in leadership. There are also children’s classes for ages 18 months through early teen and childcare for infants and toddlers.
- Home Groups Home Groups are small, informal groups of people gathering in one another’s homes and apartments from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday evenings for three reasons: 1) to study and discuss the Bible; 2) to pray together; and 3) to grow in love for each other. In other words, Home Groups at Wallace Presbyterian Church are basic, intimate Christian communities. Contact Pastor Stephen Coleman (coleman@wallacepca.org) for more information or to join a group.
Mentoring
The idea of covenant is not just doctrine to be believed but it is to be lived. The mentoring ministry is devoted to understanding biblical foundations and passing them down to the next generation. Based largely on the book “The Legacy of Biblical Womanhood”, this group invites you to come and be part of a growing Legacy.
Prayer Chain
Do you have a heart for lifting others up in prayer?
Connections
Fellowship in small groups is a wonderful way to meet new people and bring friends together to share in activities and interests. Current groups are already meeting and open to new members wishing to join. New groups are encouraged to bring together women sharing other common interests.
- Body & Soul Fitness
Praise God with both body and soul as you are led in strength and flexibility training to the accompaniment of upbeat Christian music. See “Events Series” page for more information about the classes for the current quarter. For more info about Body & Soul Fitness classes go to www.bodyandsoul.org or contact shirley.werth@verizon.net.
- Chorale Ensemble
If you like to sing, join this group that sings monthly during the Sunday worship service.
- Concerts
Ever wanted to attend a concert or other performance of some type but didn’t want to go alone?
- Mom’s Group
Occasional get-togethers for mothers.
- Photos
Bring your photos/scrapbook project and be productive while getting to know others.
- Victorian Tea Book Club
Meet with others to enjoy tea and discuss the book of the month.
- Women of Wallace (WOW) Google Group
Join to become a member of the Google group. This is a virtual bulletin board that can be used by members to ask questions, share prayer requests, or request help with a ministry.
Special Events
Special events are times for women in the church to come together and work to glorify God through strengthening relationships and serving each other. There are many opportunities to plan, organize and participate in special events at Wallace.
- Sunday Hospitality
Become part of a 4-6 member team that enjoys fellowship as they prepare coffee and refreshments for after our church service. Each team serves once a month. - WOW Time
WOW Time is a special event held at Wallace during the Sunday School hour once a quarter.
Service
There are many ways to reach out and share the grace and mercy of Christ with others! We are looking for volunteers to help provide meals, go on visits, and assist families during times of loss.
- Missions Supporting
Missionaries in their fields of work is an important ministry of the body of Christ. The Wallace Missions Team meets monthly to discuss how best to support our missionaries and how to share with the congregation about their work.
- Meals Team
We provide meals to support families with a variety of needs.
- Visitation Team
We welcome volunteers to take part in small group visits for individuals who are in need of encouragement and fellowship. Some visits involve hymn singing or playing table games together.
- Funeral Support
If you are in need of assistance to set up a funeral reception, we will assist families as possible with the set up of space on the church campus and with the serving of food. A modest food donation is offered to families.
