College

Our Philosophy

We endeavor to engage the minds and hearts of college students with the reality of the risen Christ and the gospel of grace.  Our goal is to help students come to know and love Christ, to grow in their faith, and to develop a view of the world and of life that integrates their Christian faith.

We want to provide a church home for students studying at the University of Maryland or living in our area.  We support the efforts of campus-based ministries like Reformed University Fellowship, InterVarsity, Navigators, Campus Crusade for Christ and others that are actively reaching out to students on the campus.  We expect that students will be involved in one of these campus groups, so our goal is to compliment, rather than duplicate, what is already available.

Opportunities

  •  Worship – The experience of worshiping God with the people of God on the Lord’s day is foundational to everything else we do as Christians.  It links us with His church across the globe and with His people throughout all ages.  We heartily welcome all to join with us as we rejoice in God, as we celebrate His mercy and goodness to us in the gospel of His Son, and as we hear together His word of truth.  We especially hope that students will join us in worship.
  • Sunday Teaching Fellowship – Each Sunday before worship (9:15), we have a class especially for college age folks where we study the scriptures together and seek to understand what it means today to live as followers of Jesus Christ. Our class meets on the Church Campus in the House at the Crossroads. This semester, we will be discussing the first eight chapters (or as much as we can cover!) of Paul’s epistle to the Romans.  Join us as we discuss Paul’s exploration of human sin, Christ’s incarnation and atonement, God’s righteousness in judgment and justification, the place of Israel in redemptive history and much more.  Coffee and bagels provided.  Taught by Joe Minich and Dr. Marty Rabenhorst.
  • Lunches – During the academic year, approximately once each month, we host a lunch for students or college age folks.  Usually these are held in someone’s home near campus.  For details on our next lunch check this month’s calendar.
  • Summer – During the summer when most of the campus groups are not meeting, we try to provide opportunities for fellowship, prayer and bible study.  Check back as we get closer to the summer season to see what’s in store.

NEED A RIDE? – Are you are a student living on the University of Maryland campus and need a ride to church? During the academic year, we have a van that runs each Sunday before worship, and returns to campus following Sunday School.  Check the Van Route link for details on time and pickup locations.
